AWP | Doodle Lore Replaced with AWP | Duality - Hellcase Blog

Ah ****, here we go again. Yet another plagiarism scandal broke out in the CS:GO community. This time, it’s about AWP | Doodle Lore.

On February 10, Valve pushed the “Case, Capsule, Kit, Oh My!” update that brought in a new weapon case, a new sticker capsule, and a new music kit. We have already gone over this update and also gathered the ten best weapon finishes from the latest case in our article, including the newest AWP | Duality.

Valve Replaced AWP | Doodle Lore with AWP | Duality

Two days after the release of the Revolution Case with the new AWP skin “inspired” by the legendary Dragon Lore, people started making copyright infringement allegations regarding the originality of AWP | Doodle Lore art.

A popular skin creator, Danidem, discovered that the art used for AWP | Doodle Lore looked alike with a drawing of a dragon belonging to Vexx, a famous artist with 3 million followers on YouTube.

welp… my art got stolen for a brand new skin on @CSGO 😶 https://t.co/lT8rxutonR

Here’s a picture that The Danidem used to show similarities between the original artwork and the published AWP skin design.

Vexx, the original author of the dragon, posted his piece of art on his official Instagram account on December 13, 2020.

In the end, Valve replaced AWP | Doodle Lore from the newest Revolution Case with AWP | Duality due to confirmed copyright infringement. Also, all the existing AWP | Doodle Lore skins in players’ inventories were replaced with the new weapon finish.

History repeats itself because a situation like this has already happened in the past. The art of M4A4 | Howl turned out to be stolen, and Valve was obliged to recreate this skin.

Some players decided to purchase AWP | Doodle Lore because they thought it would be graded as a Contraband skin, and its value would explode. However, all the existing AWP | Doodle Lore skins in players’ inventories were replaced with the new weapon finish, AWP | Duality.

Does CS:GO Plan to Remove the M4A4 | Temukau Skin?

After the M4A4 | Howl situation, Valve developers said there would be no more Contraband skins, and they are standing their ground.

Meanwhile, Danidem claims that the M4A4 | Temukau also features stolen art, and the whole f0rnez’s Rush Collection does as well.

The artist behind the M4A4 | Temukau, @f0rnez , is most likely cheating his way into the @CSGO Steam Workshop.

So far, I've found the original art for the Deagle, MP5-SD and M4A1-S from his anime collection, the one the M4A4 is part of: https://t.co/lvTSZgEzgM pic.twitter.com/yTfIEmzYse

On Twitter, f0rnez confirmed in response that he took inspiration from the original art but “have clearly not copied straight up”.

I have clearly not copied straight up. I have collected inspiration YES. But i also have the original HAND drawn drawing of the artwork on the m4A4 Temukau. I have a degree in Graphic designs and i know copying artwork is NOT okay, it looks simular yes, but it is NOT the same pic.twitter.com/zVDQJ7qzuI

However, The Danidem kept confronting the M4A4 | Temukau’s author on social media.

Valve has not made any statements about the newest anime-styled M4A4 skin yet, but it’s possible that we might get updates on this case anytime soon.
